Do a new thing—make people LAUGH!

I thought about one of my biggest fears…..well, it’s really a love/hate fear relationship…and it is with comedy.  I can not seem to stay away from it….have you ever felt something in your life that you just keep getting drawn back to, and yet you resist it because deep inside you know what it would mean for you to make it a reality, or to even attempt to become a success at it??

For me it has been stand-up comedy.  I had stopped doing it for years. And when my life was beginning to starve for creativity and I looked to places I could contribute, and when I heard the glorious sound of laughter in people sparked by ideas I had in my head, I came alive again.  My goal this year was to get back to this thing I loved, and missed. When I set that intention, the universe presented this opportunity at one of the best comedy clubs in all of Los Angeles. I had to say yes, and I am so glad I did. I also hope that this video clip inspires you, makes you laugh a few times, and reminds you of what it is that you might want to start to do again in your life that once brought you joy.  I did not have time to edit it down to a shorter version, so even if you watch just a few minutes, I think you will get some laughs. Either way…..have a laugh on me. :)

What jumps out at me here is your power and intensity–how far you were willing to go to show yourself, with such overwhelming confidence and the unmistakable stamp of a person totally being who they are.

That all might sound odd, because I suppose I was supposed to write about how funny you were, but if someone handed me a plate
with foie gras and Cheez Whiz on it, I’d probably subsequently spend more time talking about the foie gras, it being the much more profound thing to experience.

In other words: I’m not saying you weren’t funny.

I’m just saying you were spellbinding, putting something out there–something invisible, but real–that I have rarely seen a comedian offer.

You ought to do a one-woman show.

Not one reliant on one-liners, but on who you are.

    Because that person is…well, amazing.

    And, a day later…

…I remember, again, that there is a documentary that I have endlessly suggested that you should see that would help you do more of what I see you doing in this video.

And more, and more, and more.

    A CONSTANT FORGE.

Is this it for the blog for the year?

    Or, forever?

I hate even briefly contemplating such tragic notions, but I
am only looking at the available evidence in the matter–and
hence, my troubling, and troubled, questtions.

Hope all of this awakens you from your creative slumber.

The world needs your regular outbursts.

Who knew? Gorgeous, AND hilarious! SO glad I discovered your stand-up (where did that original term come from? There’s no sit-down comedians?). I was having a rough day, saw an episode of Designed to Sell, wanted to know who the babe was and googled. You are a treat, girl! Please post any of your stand-up video for your fans.
