New thing #39- Roller DISCO–skating?!!
There is a place in L.A. called ECHOPLEX in Silverlake and on the 3rd Thursday of every month they have ROLLER DERBY DISCO—-that would mean rollerskating, well, in a bar. They transform the regular scene here to a complete roller rink, and even rent skates for 5 bucks. My only advice is ….DON’T drink and skate. They do not go well together. If you want the link and you DARE to do it yourself here it is….info right here at YELP ECHOPLEX INFO.
My DO SOMETHING NEW was to get myself off the couch on a rainy L.A. night, convince some friends to do this NEW thing with me, and ….ALLLLLLLLLL SKATE!!!!!!! Press play to see the action…..

What little I could see in the dark looked like fun! Wish I were your age again – I’d try it. Aunt Mae

All I can say is who is going with me to Roller Skating next week? I’ve got my knee pads, white swesat band and bermuda shorts.
Lovely blog!

The idea of doing most of the video without sound–very effective. The visual aspect of the
place–dark, busy–took over, and that really put me IN the place. So, as a little piece of filmmaking–don’t want to overstate, but I’m just trying to give credit where it’s due–it’s very skillful.
I even like the brevity of it. Sometimes, when you’re trying to capture an experience, less
really is more. Its length made me say, afterwards, “I really was someplace for a minute…
wasn’t I?” And then, “hmm…”
Like in the green video the other day, seems like you’re really trying new things with your
camera and editing–a way of making this marathon of days you’re running un-tedious.
I liked the way you spun into the john, too. It was–I don’t know, just…alive.
